I've added another affiliate link -- this one is for DietDirect.com.

I've placed several orders with these folks (for the protein instant oatmeal, and the Crisp n' Crunch bars) and they've always shipped fast and gotten my order right.

When you "shop by brand" on that site the "Protidiet" bars, diet soups, and oatmeals are the same ones that the clinic sells.  Also, if you shop by brand for "WonderSlim", and then skip past everything until you get to the "WonderSlim Crisp 'N Crunch Bars", these are the awesome bars that are sold in the U.S. clinics, but not in Canada (for whatever reason).  Those of you that went to Michelle's party got to try these.  To make sure you get the right thing, these are the ones with 15g of protein --  Cinnamon, Fudge Graham, Peanut, Double Berry Breakfast, and Cocoa Cafe Breakfast, Crisp 'N Crunch bars.  The other WonderSlim bars are not the ones the clinics sell.

I know some folks in Canada have done "group orders" orders from DietDirect.com, so maybe they can comment on how much shipping was, whether or not they had to pay any duty, etc.

If you order from them, be sure to use the link/logo above, and when you get to the final checkout, use code 'SAVE10' to save 10% or code '73567' to save $5 (whichever is a better deal for the size of your order).

[Note: As of 15-JAN-2010 the 73567 and SAVE10 discount codes are expired per DietDirect.  Now 10% off is automatic on orders over $99 with no coupon code needed.]

Also, they have free shipping on orders over $79.  I'm not sure if this includes shipping to Canada or not -- again, if you're in Canada and have done an order that big with them, let us know.

[Note: The free shipping offer does include shipping to Canada.]

I figured out how to make links to specific products and still have it show us as your referrer.  To save someone possibly ordering the wrong stuff, here are some helpful tips for this merchant:

< These bars > are the same Crisp 'n Crunch bars that the clinics sell here in the U.S. (that aren't available in the clinics in Canada).  Personally, I find them to be infinitely better than the other (non Crisp 'n Crunch) bars the clinic sells.  My favorites are the Cinnamon and the Fudge Graham (I go back and forth as to which is my fav).  Ten seconds in the microwave (remove the wrapper) makes these unreal.

< These bars > and < these bars > are the same ones that are sold in both the U.S. and Canada clinics.  They're pretty good, but not as good as the Crisp 'n Crunch (above) in my opinion.

< These oatmeals > are the same ones the clinic sells.  I eat one package of the apple-cinnamon pretty much every day.  It makes an awesome thickener in my morning shakes (and a protein boost too).  On strict that would be a no-no because it would be two proteins two close together (and also count as two Dr. B products in a day), but maybe still a helpful tip for those who are on their own now if your protein needs justify it (as mine do).

< The chicken noodle soup > is the same one that is sold at the Dr. B clinic.  They only sell the Chicken Noodle flavor and not the other flavors.  The nutrition information for the other flavors is different, so I wouldn't use the other flavors on strict without getting them approved first.

< This cereal > is not Dr. B approved, but I tried it on a whim (I'm on "all foods in moderation" so it's OK) and I really like it.  It is high in protein and low in carbs.  It even makes a great crunchy snack dry out of the bag.  For maintainers only!!!

Finally, < these crunchy snacks > are not Dr. B approved, but they sent me 4 bags free (2 original and 2 cheddar) when I placed a big order recently.  I thought it was just a special thing they threw in, but the flyer I got with my most recent order says if your order is over $79 you get 4 bags free automatically so that explains that.  I prefer the cheddar -- the original seems too salty to me.  They have about 16g of carbs in a bag, so that and the fact that they are not Dr. B approved means they'd be for maintainers only.  No idea how long the "4 free" offer is going on... [Note: this offer has ended -- there is a new offer every month though, and their cart reminds you of the offer once you add items, so check the site to see what the current offer is.]

Some ordering tips to help you save even more money:

At the end of the checkout process there is a place to put in a discount code.  If you put in SAVE10 you'll save 10% on your whole order.  If you put in 73567 you'll save a flat $5.  If your order is over $50, then you save more with the SAVE10.  If it's less than $50, then the 73567 saves you more.

[Note: As of 15-JAN-2010 the 73567 and SAVE10 discount codes are expired per DietDirect.  Now 10% off is automatic on orders over $99 with no coupon code needed.]

Also, I didn't know this before, but, quoting the flyer I got with my most recent order:

Quote
With any order over $49, you may request 3 FREE SAMPLES of individual servings from ANY of our boxed protein diet products (7 servings/box items only) or single serving snacks.

When Ordering Online: In the "Special Instructions" space in step #2 of the checkout, type the word "3 FREE SAMPLES" along with the 3 specific items and flavors you desire.

Heck, I've been missing out!  My order is almost always over $49 and I've never done this.  This would be a great way to try a new product/flavor without having to buy a whole box of it.

Also, they have free standard shipping on orders over $79.  [Edit: this includes free shipping to Canada - thanks for the info. Ada!]  I try to "save up" my orders and do one big one instead of multiple little ones so I can get the free shipping (and whatever the other free offer of the month is).

That's it for DietDirect.  If I discover any other really good stuff I'll let you all know.

Someone asked me about ordering from DietDirect and having it shipped to Canada (since DietDirect is in the U.S.).  I did some searching around here and found that Noma has ordered from them before, so hopefully she can post and let everyone know how the shipping costs were, whether there was any duty on the shipment, etc.

Thanks in advance for any insight Noma!

Thanks for all this info. Brian.  Have just put through my order and took you up on alot of your suggestions.  There is free shipping to Canada as well for orders over $79 (net total after all discounts) and Noma, if I recall correctly, said she did not pay any duty.....not sure about the sales tax/gst though. Heck, with the Canadian dollar on a tear the timing of your information could not have been better !! :D

Thanks for that information Ada!  I'm guessing the fact that the free shipping offer applies to Canada will make a big difference to folks placing an order big enough to qualify.

I ordered $90.00 from Diet Direct on Sep 19th. My order arrived this morning so 1 week and 2 days in transit/crossing border etc. They took the 10% off, so my order came to $80.91 (US at par). No shipping costs and NO duty. Just wanted to let everyone know. I can't wait to try the chocolate fudge graham bars. Thanks again Brian!

oh... and they sent me 4 samples which I passed on to the girls at work (not DR B legal). I forgot to add the 3 free samples of protein bars...next time.

I just did an order over $79 and tried the "3 free samples" thing trick and of course it worked.  I've got a few new things to try now.

I started an order and entered the SAVE10 and the 73567 codes and both seemed to register! (10% and $5.00).  Not sure if it would go all the way through, but thought I'd share if someone else wanted to try.

Very cool thanks Jedsend! I will try that on my next order.

Brian in one of your posts you mentioned the oatmeal and the soup, are all varieties ok for strict or just apple oatmeal and chicken noodle soup?

Posted by Ada on Sep. 29 2007,08:54
Like Veronica, came home yesterday to find my order placed on the 19th had also arrived by airmail and as Veronica let us know there are no taxes at all (at any end)  or duty charged.  Also got the 3 free samples I ordered and the 4 pkgs of double bites they threw in on their own as a bonus(for maintainers only guys!!) .  Total order came to $91.86, less 10%, net price $82.66 U.S.  The charge to my credit card came to $86.23.

What totally surprised me was that the postage they paid to airmail the box was $25.10 U.S.....that's a whopping percentage of the total order value.  I will almost feel guilty trying the double dip discount next time Jedsend   ( :;): ).
I have already tasted the Honey Nut Flavored Soy Cereal which I had as a snack last night....it is like the sweet Cheerios...very crunchy....satisfies the sweet tooth and eaten one by one  is very satisfying for it's taste and crunch/munch value with lots of hand to mouth action !!  Because of the protein it was also nice and filling and definitely satisfied my slight hunger at that time.  Basic nutrients are 100 cals., 15 gm protein and only 5 gm. carbs with the added bonus of 2 gms of fiber so I guess that makes it 3 gms net carbs .  The best is that it did not trigger cravings for more carbs when I was done......lots of bang for the buck.

The clinic sells all 3 of the oatmeal flavors, but only the Chicken Noodle of the soup.  The different soup flavors do have different nutrition values, so I wouldn't use any of the others without running them by the clinic first.

I did try the Chicken Noodle soup the other day and it was pretty decent.  Make it with at least 8 ounces of water to keep it from being too thick and salty (I made it with 6 ounces).  Of all of the convenient proteins (bars, shakes, oatmeals, etc.) the soup has the lowest calories (90 calories), so that's another thing it has going for it.

I'll have to try that next time.  I can't believe I didn't think to try it before.  I guess I just figured you could only enter one or the other.  Thanks for the tip!

Between having literally every Dr. B bar (even the ones you guys can't get in Canada), all the Dr. B soups, oatmeals, etc., being about 40% cheaper than the clinic prices, and free shipping to Canada, this is turning out to be a pretty sweet vendor.

Just went and tested it too.  They must have gotten hip to that little trick right after Jedsend-diet did it.  They will only let you apply one coupon code now, so be sure to apply the one that works out best for your size order.

Are you talking about the 3 free samples that you have to ask for when your order is over $49, or the free bags of "Double Bites" that you get when your order is over $79?  If either of those offers has gone away I need to know it so I can update the information.

Regarding the GST, etc., I'm guessing this is a random thing -- you get lucky or you don't -- depending on who's handling it when it comes across.  So far you're the first person to post that they've had to pay any tax/duty.  Maybe not your week to play the lottery.   ???

Brian, when I  read my invoice I noticed it said you can request 3 free samples, which I did not do ( I assumed as my order was over $79 I'd get them. I'll try and find my invoice and see what the breakdown is,FYI I has a piece of the choc chip cookie.......not very good !!!  I did not  get any free samples, in fact I ordered the double bites and paid for them

I rec'd my order on Friday - 9 days from order date.  No extra fees to be paid.  Delivery was written as around $27 on mine - I'll always make sure I never have to pay that (by keeping my order over $79)!

No free bags of Double Bites.  I did get three free samples though that I requested by email after I had put my order through (order over $49) - I had forgotten to write it in the special instructions at the time of ordering so thought I would try my luck and email them.  I never got an email back, but my 3 free samples were in the box :)

I received my order this evening - 2 1/2 weeks after it was placed.  I just wanted to let everyone know that I had to pay Canada Post $16.25 on an order value of $80.33.  It said $0.00 under the 'duty' section but $4.82 gst + $6.43 pst + $5.00 handling fee.  I did get the 3 free samples that I requested.  In fact, they sent me an entire box of the hot cocoa instead of just one sample package.  I wish that I hadn't already eaten my proteins for the day - I can hardly wait to try everything!

Are the ProtiDiet Shakes the same as the ones at the clinic?

Anyone tried the cocoa? I've had the hot chocolate from the clinic - satisfying.

Thanks!

The shakes they sell at Dietdirect.com are not the same....they  taste like the puddings but not as thick and are good. For maintainers, they are especially good to keep in the car (it is powder in a bottle) because if caught out for a long time and need something to eat you just add water (from that trusty bottled water we always have with us) , shake and drink.  Very clever.....and also fewer calories and carbs than the bars.   I believe the puddings, chicken soup and for sure the bars are the same....all made by Prodiet which is a Montreal company.

Just a heads up that the "free double bites" promotion has ended and was replaced with a "free box of WonderSlim cereal with orders over $99" promotion.  I called them today because I'm placing an order and wanted to know what to expect.  Apparently that particular special deal changes periodically whereas the free samples and free shipping deals are always the same.

I'll be getting a box of the free WonderSlim cereal since my order will be over $99, so I'll let you all [maintainers] know how it is.

Regarding the shakes, Ada is right, they are not the same as the RTD that the clinic sells.  I haven't tried them yet, but for maintainers, they sound like they may be a clever way to keep a shake around.

See < this post > for products known to be the same as what the clinic sells.

Hey Jedsend.  Sorry you had a bad experience.  I've always found these folks to be top notch.  I just got in another order today, and it had my free cereal and the 3 free samples I requested.  On your receipt, does it correctly list the samples you asked for in the "special instructions" box?

I've never had them make a single mistake.  What samples did you ask for?  Maybe you asked for something that doesn't qualify as a free sample (only the stuff that comes 7 to a box is eligible as a sample).

Regarding the shipping time, I doubt they have much control over it after it leaves their door.  If it took 3 weeks, the postal service is probably to blame.

Posted by BrianB on Oct. 19 2007,15:26
Speaking of having received my order, I got lots of new things to try this time.  While I'd love to try them all in a single day, that won't work from a calorie counting standpoint.   :p

Today I had a bag of the BBQ flavor < ProtiDiet Snacks >.  I also ordered the Sour Cream and Onion flavor but haven't tried those yet.  I thought the BBQ were very good.  I ordered a whole box of each, so it was a leap of faith.

Since someone else said the chocolate chip cookies weren't so hot, I requested my 3 free samples to be: 1 chocolate chip cookie, 1 peanut butter cookie, and 1 oriental soy strips.  Will report on those when I try them.

Also, since my order was over $99 I got a free box of WonderSlim Breakfast Cereal (they sent the Cinnamon Crisp flavor).  Haven't tried that yet either -- maybe in the morning.

None of these items are Dr. B approved.  For the items that are the same as the Dr. B clinics sell, see < this post >.

Just got my order today.  I ordered it exactly a week ago.  Order was shipped with exactly what I requested including the free samples.  Bad news is that I got dinged for $16 in taxes/duties.  The total order was $80.  Very satisfied with the quickness.  Guess its just a hit and miss again with the duties.

Jedsend...I just hope you find this as funny as we do!  After all, we're not the ones stuck with the oatmeal.....    :D

Edit:  I'm a little punchy on quite a build up of 222's today (aspirin + codeine) for my migraine....and this laugh has felt so good.

My head killed today too!  Gotta love codeine! :-)  I had 4 back-to-back bars.

I thought that about the "double-dipping"....funny.

In truth though, I like the Detour bars from Costco which are $1 each. And now we're on maintenance there's much more variety of foods to choose from that ordering from DietDirect doesn't make much sense.  I suppose if you like the products they offer, then great.  I'm just not convinced there's any "gotta have 'ems" that I can't find an equivalent something locally.  Now, if they had Joseph's Pita....!

Hey, I like the oatmeal -- I order it 5 boxes at a time.  Of course I don't eat it as oatmeal ('cause it's not so good as oatmeal), I add it to the blender when making my pre-workout shake to add 15g of protein, some great apple cinnamon flavor, and some thickness.

Can't wait till my first order arrives.

Here's what I got:

Wonderslim Double Berry Bars
Wonderslim Cinnamon Bars
Wonderslim CocoaCafe Bars
ProtiDiet Honey Nut Cereal
Low Carb Isopure Whey Protein
ProtiDiet Pancakes
ProtiDiet Oatmeal (I like it as Oatmeal!)

I asked for free samples of the following:
Nacho Cheese Pasta
Sloppy Joe Mix
Dulche De Leche Pudding

I wonder which bars taste better, the ProtiDiet Wildberry or the Wonderslim Double Berry.

So many yummy protein options coming my way!

I'm planning to put in an order, don't really want to pay $16 per box to the clinic if I can get them for $10 online (with the dollar at par and all, plus the 10% coupon).  Question is, are the other flavours ok for those of us on strict?  Ie. I think I would love the berry one, but they don't have that in canada, so is that still ok to order?  I think I would get one of each to start, and find which one I like the best, I just want to make sure we can try any of them.  Thanks!

Yep, all of the flavors of < these bars > are sold in the U.S. clinics and therefore are fine.  I like the Crisp n' Crunch bars a lot better than the other ones.
Posted by robert72 on Oct. 24 2007,15:55
thanks brian.  What about the ones < on this page? >  The supreme caramel ones are the ones I get from the clinic (I actually like them), but I would be interested in trying the wildberry flavour in that type of bar too.
Posted by BrianB on Oct. 24 2007,17:47
Below are all the flavors sold at my clinic.  All of the bars on the page you reference have pretty much the same nutritional content, so should be interchangable, but if you wanted to be absolutely strict, you'd stick to ones on the list below:

Supreme Caramel
Supreme Peanut
Crisp 'n Crunch Peanut
Crisp 'n Crunch Fudge Graham
Crisp 'n Crunch Cocoa Cafe
Coconut Almond
Chocolate Chip
Hazelnut
Chocolate Peanut Crunch
Double Chocolate Crunch (discontinued?)
Crunchy Cereal Caramel
Crunchy Cereal Chocolate
Crisp 'n Crunch Cinnamon

shoot, I see the berry one isn't on the list.....  It looks like it has the same content, except for some lower potassium amounts.... anyone tried it?
Posted by BrianB on Oct. 25 2007,15:44
Just a couple personal product opinions for the maintainers who may be trying a variety of things.

First, on my last order I bought both flavors (BBQ and Sour Cream & Onion) of the < ProtiDiet Snacks >.  I had the BBQ the other day and it was pretty darn good.  I had the Sour Cream and Onion today and honestly it wasn't very good -- way too salty and the flavor was sorta odd.  Unfortunately I bought a whole box of each.  Of course I'll eat the BBQ, but the others may go in the hurricane supplies box or something (hey, you can't just throw out shelf stable protein!).

I also used two of my 3 "free samples" to get a chocolate chip, and a peanut butter < ProtiDiet cookie >.  I have to say that by themselves they were both moist, yet dry at the same time (if that's possible).  They weren't yucky, but they weren't great either.  They'd have been really good with a scoop of ice cream on top.   :D   I don't think I'd ever order a box of them, but they were good enough that I might request them as a free sample again.

Right now the two items that I go through the most of are the < ProtiDiet Honey Nut Cereal > [maintainers only] (I add a bag of this to my "normal" cereal every morning to boost the protein without adding hardly any carbs), and the Apple Cinnamon < ProtiDiet Oatmeal > [same one the clinic sells] (which I add to the blender when making my shakes to boost the protein and thickness).  I pretty much am ordering those two products about 5 or 6 boxes at a time.

If I try anything else new I'll post a review.

Thanks Mysticial!  I hadn't noticed that.  I don't know if I'm too lazy to actually box it up and send it back or not, but at least now I know I have the option!

Well...yesterday received my second order and it took exactly the same time as before...7 business days.  This time I did have to pay something....$10.68 which is the post office $5.00 "handling fee" to collect money from you and submit to the govt." and gst.  No duty or pst was charged.  The guy in the post office explained that it is indeed the luck of the draw depending on whose path the parcel crosses  in customs.  Even with the $10 bucks I think it's still an excellent deal compared to prices at the clinic....and I do love that ProtiDiet Honey Nut Cereal !! (maintainers only)  :D

I do love that ProtiDiet Honey Nut Cereal !! (maintainers only)  :D

I really really enjoy the stuff too.  Very low in carbs.  When I'm having a big breakfast, I have 3/4 cup of Special K protein plus, 1 cup of All Bran Extra Fiber, 2 cups of puffed kamut, and 2 bags of the ProtiDiet honey nut cereal.  Then douse it with a couple cups of Almond Breeze (and lots of liquid Splenda).  It is a very bulky meal, has over the RDA for dietary fiber, hits my protein target for that part of the day, and really fills me up.

Above breakfast not strict legal -- not even maintenance legal until "all things in moderation" and even then -- define "moderation"...

I was going through my box of DietDirect foods to see what I need to re-order (need more < oatmeal > and more < honey nut cereal > -- both are a staple in my diet these days), and came across 3 bags of the < Wonderslim Crunchy Cheddar Mix > that I had forgotten I ordered.  I just had to try one and it was a darn good crunchy snack.  It had some Cheeto-like things in it, various other crunchies, some artificial bacon bit type things, etc.  Good thing about this product is you can buy a single bag for less than $2 to see if you like it -- you're not stuck with buying a whole box of 7.

I'm also ordering 1 of each flavor of the < ProtiDiet Proti-Shakes >.  I think these are a clever idea.  They are in a bottle, but have only the powder in there.  You add your cold water to the bottle, shake it up, and drink it.  So, it's kind of an instant shake powder, but with it's own shaker bottle.  If they are any good I'll keep them in the car for emergency meals.  I won't have to keep 'em cold and can just add cold water from bottled water or a water fountain or whatever.  We'll see how they taste when they come in.

I also found a few other products in the box that I forgot I had (like the < WonderSlim pretzels > and a couple others), but it is too late to go eating all that stuff tonight.  Now that I remember I have it I'll try to eat one of each and get reviews up.  I figure that way I can save you all buying anything nasty.

Really I've only found one product I didn't like so far and that was the Sour Cream < ProtiDiet Snacks > -- the BBQ ones were good though.

Anyway, just a reminder that other than the oatmeal, everything I've listed in this particular post is for maintainers only.  For a list of the stuff you can have on strict (there is a lot), go < here >.

Enjoy!!!

OK, I did try the < WonderSlim pretzels > yesterday but didn't have a chance to post about it.  I thought they were really good.  Didn't seem like a diet food to me at all.  A little lighter crunch than say a Rold Gold brand type pretzel, and good flavor.  I'll definitely keep these in the car for an emergency snack.

I also tried some of the < WonderSlim cereal > (Cinnamon Crisp flavor) that I got free with my previous order (for ordering over $99) and it was really good!  The only bad thing is that the volume of it is pretty small, and honestly it has too many carbs (13g net) for the size to be something I'd have every day.  Still, it's yummy enough that I'll throw a pack in my cereal mixture once in awhile.

That's all for now.  My next shipment is supposed to arrive Monday (the 12th) and there will be some new things in there that I'll report on after I get a chance to try them.

OK, my big box from DietDirect showed up today.  I've only tried one new product from it, and that was the chocolate < ProtiDiet shake powder in a bottle >.  While not very voluminous (you add about 6 ounces of water to the powder in the bottle and then shake it up real well), it was very tasty and thick.  The "numbers" are pretty good and it is 15g of protein which is the amount in all of the Dr. B legal protein alternatives.  These aren't approved for strict, so I wouldn't do them if you're on strict unless you get them approved.  For maintainers however, the nutritionals are very similar to the AdvantEDGE shakes (which are approved), and they are super convenient because you can just keep the bottle in the car (the powder should hold up to the temp extremes I'd guess) and add cold bottled water when you want to drink it.

Anyway, I'll report when I try the vanilla and the strawberry, but I'm encouraged by the chocolate.

I saw these and didn't try them because I was afraid they'd be too much like the ProtiDiet Sour Cream and Onion snacks which I didn't like (but I did like the BBQ).  Are you saying you ordered them and liked them?  If so, I'll have to give 'em a shot.  Please let me know.

I ordered 1 bag of the Crunch O's to try and a sample of the Protidiet Onion and Sour Cream as well.  Although I did not mind the Protidiet (I love very salty) the Crunch O's are much  better.  They are the same Cheerio type morsels as the Honey Nut Cereal with a salty sour cream/onion flavour.

I ordered 1 of each different flavour of the approved bars that we can't get here in canada, and I love the Cinnamon.  I couldn't believe how good it tastes compared to the other bars I have had.  The Supreme Caramel is good too (those are the ones I get from the clinic), but the Cinnamon ones are just in another world.  Only one per day though so I don't get into trouble

Great minds and all that ... the Cinnamon are absolutely my favorite as well...

Just a quick note.  I tried the strawberry < ProtiDiet shake powder in a bottle > today for lunch.  The taste was fine, but I had a "malfunction" with it that I didn't have with the chocolate.  After I added my water and shook vigorously for awhile, there were still clumps of protein powder stuck in the bottom corners of the bottle.  No amount of shaking would dissolve them, and I even added a bit more water.  Having had this malfunction, I'm guessing that rapping the bottle to break up the powder (and get it off the bottom) before adding the water would prevent it.  I'll try that when I make the other strawberry (I ended up ordering two of each flavor).

Just a heads up in case anyone else got these -- you may get to test my solution before I do.

Now that is too weird Brian.  I also late this morning grabbed a Protidiet strawberry powder shake (the 2nd flavour I am trying as well as I also tried the chocolate first a few weeks ago) and also had some powder stick to the bottom (which did not happen the first time with the chocolate) .  Only, I, unlike you, did NOT think of rapping the bottle before adding the water next time....so thanks for the great tip.  :D

I am so glad that I found this thread.  I have been buying the protein bars from the clinic, and was always a little put out at paying more than $2/bar, even though they are very handy and very tasty.
Anyway, I just placed a large order.  I am starting maintenance in a couple of weeks, and will be 4 weeks into it by the time Christmas rolls around.  I bought quite a few snack items which will not be legal for a while, but wanted to have them on hand so that I have something on hand over the holidays.
The cereal should be legal by week 2 of maint.  Yes?
The protein bars and oatmeal are all legal now.
The snack/pretzel bags should be legal by week 5 of maint. and should therefore help me during that dreaded week between Christmas and New Year's.
I'll let you know if I get dinged for the GST/PST, or if I'm one of the lucky ones.
Now...what should I order from our other sponsor, the lowcarbgrocery store?  Seriously how good are the shirataki noodles?

Posted by Shilps on Nov. 14 2007,19:43
Check < this link > re shirataki.  There's also a few other threads discussing them - you'll be able to find them by going into search.  Most people on here seem to like them lots!!

I tried the whole "rapping the bottle" thing on the second strawberry shake and still had a pretty tough time getting it mixed up.  It still wanted to clump pretty badly.

Then yesterday I had a vanilla.  The vanilla mixed up easier than the strawberry, but not as easy as the chocolate.  I was able to get it completely mixed by banging on it after adding the water, bang, shake, bang, shake, and it all mixed up.  Flavor was good.

So, the results are:

Chocolate, mixes easy, tastes great
Vanilla, a little harder to mix, tastes great
Strawberry, difficult to mix, tastes great [I don't plan to order these again]

One idea I had for the vanilla in particular (but haven't tried yet, but plan to try with my 2nd vanilla shake) is to add diet orange soda to it instead of water.  I'd think the carbonation will assist dissolution, and maybe make a yummy orange-vanilla smoothy type thing at the same time.

We'll see...

While I'm at it.  I've tried two other products (not approved for strict) that were both awesome.  Both of these are the < smaller Wonderslim protein bars >.  These have more carbs and less protein than the bars that are approved for strict.  They are more of a snack/treat than a meal replacement.  I tried the Chocolate Mint, and the Cookies and Cream, and both were fantastic (just like a naughty candy bar, to me anyway).  So, if you maintainers are looking for something that has some protein (but not as much as a strict bar) and is really tasty, you might want to give these a shot.  If you're prone to abusing sweet, tasty things, you might want to skip them.  I'm going to order some more flavors (there are several in the list that sound good) now that I know that they are so good.

That's all for now.

In < this post > I posted links to buy the "Crisp 'n Crunch" bars that we have available in the U.S. clinics from DietDirect.com.  DietDirect.com sells them under the "WonderSlim" brand.

In < this post > Tati05 raises a good question.  Unlike the other products which are sold in both the U.S. and Canada clinics, how do the Canada folks know (other than taking my word for it, or unless they've actually visited a U.S. Clinic) that these bars are really "allowed"?

Because I'm a pack rat, I actually kept something that definitively answers the question.  Here you go:

Tati05 further wondered if they'd be OK since they are only sold in the U.S. clinics but not in Canada.  The food list says "Dr. Bernstein Protein Bars".  It does go on to say "available in a variety of flavors" and of course doesn't list the U.S. flavors on the Canada food list -- but how cruel would that be (to list flavors you can't get).  Any nurse that says you can't eat a food on the U.S. food list is an idiot in my opinion, and you can tell them I said so.   :D

If they insist that Canadians can't eat what's on the U.S. food list, ask them what you're supposed to eat if you're vacationing in the States on strict?  Perhaps you have to bring nothing but Canadian food with you.   :D

The things the nurses make up out of thin air never cease to amaze me.

Anyway, hope this helps!

Has anyone ordered from Diet Direct lately?   I tried using the SAVE10 promo code on a $100+ order and got 'that promotional code has expired'.  Is there a different one to take its place?  I ended up used the $5 off code - that one still worked.
Posted by Jan68 on Dec. 28 2009,14:33
just got an email from Diet Direct stating that they are no longer using the codes (I think 12/31 is the last day)...they will automatically apply the 10% on orders over $75
Posted by AChartier on Jan. 11 2010,11:38
Just placed an order and the $5 off code was accepted.
Posted by Linden on Jan. 11 2010,11:58
Yes, the $5 off code still works, but it seems to be actually 5% off. It flucuates depending on how much your order is.
Posted by bugzy on Jan. 14 2010,19:42
Just placed my first order, it was $75 and shipping was still free to Toronto although the website says your order has to be over $79 for free shipping.

I needed to place a Diet Direct order today for some bars and oatmeal and found that the link for the Crisp n' Crunch bars (linked in the second post at the top of this topic) has changed.  I updated the post to have < the new link >.

Also, it looks like all of the coupon codes have expired.  It has been simplified with an automatic 10% off for orders of $99 or more, and shipping is still free on orders of $79 or more.  They do still have promotional codes from time to time for specific products or specific events (like Christmas).  If any are in effect they are listed on < this page >.

I placed an order for just over $99 and got an automatic $10 off as well as the free shipping.

After looking at the posts for a couple days and surfing the DietDirect website a couple times, I placed an order today for 10 boxes of protein bars and 1 box of the Chicken Noodle soup... Looking forward to receiving them! :)

Placed a large order, over $300. At checkout there was a quantity box for the free samples, it was filled in for one, I changed it to 5. They shipped all 5 no questions and no additional cost.

Beware though, the items shipped as free samples may or may not be allowed for Dr B.

Ordered March 2nd, arrived March 17 into Mississauga. Duties and taxes were $25 CAD.
