I have been on the diet for approximately 5 months, and have experienced very rapid and successful weight loss (almost 100 pounds). For approximately 3 months, I have been extremely and irregularly cold/chilly, all the time - I wear a sweatshirt when it is 24-26 degrees outside, and I run a heater under my work station consistently through the summer months (my co-workers joke that it's a sauna by my desk). Is anyone else experiencing this? Is this a normal side-effect of rapid weight loss (having lost insulation)?

Hi MissMolsonIndy!  I had posted a similar question a few weeks ago.  One of the more experienced members here suggested that I may need to up my potassium.  Maybe ask your nurse about this?

I already take the maximum dosage because I run 5-7 times a week (3-4 tablets, twice a day). I wonder if my body will just self-regulate once I return to a more "normal" caloric intake?

MissMolson;

When I was on the program, I was constantly freezing.  If you are not already on K-Lyte instead of the pills, ask for that.  It helped me somewhat, but I never had total relief from that symptom.

I wish you warmth!

Take care,
Jane

I am on the K-light 3 X a day and I still have cold spells, I have just accepted it as a part of the process and I believe I read on the forums here that after maintenance and your body evens out you do get the internal thermostat back....heres to those days :)

Hi MissMolsonIndy,

I was experiencing the same things you are currently, what did it for me; I talked to my doctor and he told me to up my potassium(one member mentioned that), and that seemed to help quite a bit. It's not that I felt 'cold', it's just that my hands and feet were freezing!

Hi,
I also am constantly cold.  I wear a sweater every day and people look at me funny.  I think part of the reason maybe the 4.5 litres of cold water that I drink every day.  I'm already on the K-lyte and I'm still cold.  Although I do remember in my thinner days experiencing it as well -- so maybe its just that you don't have as much body fat as you are accustomed too??
