I just finished my consultation this morning. At first I was very excited and now I am feeling overwhelmed! I have so many questions about my food choices! Like for example you can have dempsters 100% whole wheat bread. But do you have to have those name brands'? And the same with the eggs. Do you need to get the exact name that they say??
Oh my !!!

You have to use the specific brands and varieties listed only unless another choice can fall under a more generic category.
For example, there are lots of specific diet sodas mentioned, but there are tons more that fall under the generic permission of "Soft drinks (sugar free and caffeine free)".

Good luck as you start this journey Jennifer. What is the goal range the clinic has set for you?

Hey,
They set it for 120-130, but I was hoping between 115-120. So I know I am going to have to work EXTRA hard!!!

Hi Jennifer,
It gets less overwhelming after the first week Just try to buy your groceries by picking out the foods you know you like from the approved list. Some bread brands allow you to have 2 slices in a day, instead of only 1...so pay close attention to that if you are someone who would want 2 slices.
Otherwise, definitely read this board, the FAQs, the stickies, recent posts AND the Dr. B guide.

One tip that I have used is to buy meat such as chicken breast, turkey breast, white fish and veal. As soon as you get your groceries home, freeze the meat in individual 3.5 oz servings. That way you don't have to weigh everytime you cook.
The first couple of days is quite the challenge.
Good luck, I know you'll do well!

Great suggestion, Kathy!
I have been cooking 3 breasts at a time and then just 1/2ing them when I'm ready to eat one. It makes less cooking time and I always have protein ready.
I've even been known to have a 1/2 a cold chicken breast that I munch on while driving to work in the car!!! Its actually not that bad

Congrats on getting through your consultation!
I found my first couple of days hard, but follow the tips on here and I promise it does get easier.
I was never good at eating my veggies and I found I should be eating lots! I initially bought all my fav veggies (that were on the allowed list) and cut them up and put them in a huge container in the fridge so when it came to eat and weigh them it was really easy for me. Now I'm in the habit and I always have cut veggies in fridge to munch on etc.
Good luck!
