I don't know about the rest of you, but when I come here, the first thing I do is click "New Posts" so I can see what's new.  Also, to "get here", I always just type www.drbforums.com in my browser (as opposed to using a bookmark, etc.).

I have the site set up so that when you go to www.drbforums.com, if the site sees that you've done a "remember my logon details" (i.e. the forum cookies are set), it automatically would redirect you to http://www.drbforums.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi which is the URL of the actual forums.

I made a minor change so that now when you go to www.drbforums.com, if it sees the forum cookies, when it redirects you, it will redirect you to http://www.drbforums.com/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=Search;CODE=03 (which is the URL for "New Posts") instead.  This should: a) save you a mouse click, b) help people who don't know about "New Posts" start using it.

What do you think?  Like it or hate it?  It's easy to change back if the majority don't like it for some reason.  Let me know...

I think it's great!  Maybe I should re-do my bookmark for the site so I get new posts automatically instead of clicking on it.  That's the first thing I look at too.

How do you do a "remember my logon details" (i.e. set the forum cookies) if you haven't already done so?

I like your change, Brian -- I always go right to "new posts".

Hi Carol....to do that, log out and when you log back in, under the box where you put in your password you will see a section titled "options". Make sure the "yes" box is ticked to the question whether you want to be remembered the next time you enter the site.  That will set the cookie on your computer once you log in again....and then all subsequent times you enter the site you will get directed to the New Posts page. It's a great convenience.
