Hi,

I'm relatively new...been on the diet for four/five weeks now and have been quietly perusing the boards and getting a lot of my questions answered - thanx!

I just went in for this morning's WI and was given a prescription for Allopurinal  (apparently my uric acid level is high in my blood work).  I was just wondering if anyone else has taken Allopurinal?  I was just reading up on some of the side effects (hair loss, blistering, etc) and they are kind of freaky...although, the thought of a gout attack is just as freaky.  So, I just thought I would ask to see if anyone has been given the prescription and what your experience of it is.

Thanx!
Lane :D

As you saw in the other thread I took Allopurinol for most of the diet.  I had no trouble with it that I know of.  From what I've read about gout attacks, unless your reaction is severe, like you said, it's probably better than gout.   :)
