Hi guys,

I had a great weigh in.  I'm down 2.8 lbs!  I'm very happy about that, especially because this means that I have now lost over 20 lbs!  Hooray!

The weird thing was that today the nurse measured me, and the measurements that she took indicated that my waist had actually grown two inches since losing the 20lbs!  I don't see how this is possible, so the two nurses must have just been measuring at different places.  Plus, there are pants that I couldn't wear last month that I can now, so I must be smaller. At the same time, it was a bit discouraging to hear those numbers!  Oh well.

I hope you are all having a good week.

-Heather

Great job, Heather!

I wouldn't be too discouraged about the measurement issue - you are OBVIOUSLY down inches it's just that they measured at totally different places! I'm pretty sure that's why Ada eventually took over doing the measurements herself in the clinic because the numbers varied widely - you may want to look into doing that too!

I'm only down 0.4 today but I'll take it since I lost so much over the weekend.

- Bri :)

Hey Everyone...

I am down a total of 26 lbs now and I have been on the program for just under 4 weeks!
I am pumped!  Way to go all...

down 0.8 and still slogging along...

Congrats to everyone for their losses.

the nurses today and the doctor said I can declare maintenance at 130 lbs...which is not to far away - only problem I see with this is that I would still like to reach the goal weight they set for me...it is obtainable - back at 301 I was laughing at my goal weight thinking it's impossible - now almost a year later I am striving for it...any advice from those who've reached maintenance?

have a great day everyone!

Great work everyone! I am down 1lb since Monday. I wish I was moving at a faster rate, but I guess slow and steady wins the race! I have also lost 1.5inches on my waist and 1inch off my hips, so I am very pleased!! It is so good to finally fit into my size 10 jeans:)

Donna - you have done amazing!!!!   It's so great to see that you've been able to stick it out for this long and still want to continue.

I felt exactly the same way about the goal they set for me when I first started the program - thought there was no way but I certainly changed my mind as I got closer and closer to it.

I would recommend that if you are still losing at a good pace, you stay on the strict program until you get closer to that goal.  Yes, you can still lose on maintenance but it's not as easy or as quick.  I found that I really screwed myself up by going to maintenance before I really wanted to maintain as I was more focused on continuing to lose weight than I was on actually adding food back in and learning how my body reacted to the different things I was adding.

Now, having said that ... if your losses slow right down on strict and you are only losing a lb. or two a week, many people find that the extra protien they get on maintenance helps to kick start their metabolism into losing again and are successful taking the rest of the weight off by staying on week one of maintenance.  It really all depends on you ... you will know better as you get closer.

Hi People I have been doing the Program for one month today and am down 16 lbs. I am enjoying it, had a few speed bumps on Thanksgiving weekend but pulled thru with a loss even then.:D

Well, I'm down less than 1/2 lb today.  I've been pretty much stalled for over a week.  Today the nurse told me I should still be losing about 4 lbs/week... like it's my fault?  Yet I'm burning like crazy... and being very strict about sticking to the diet. What's up?

I haven't posted in a while so I figured I'd add another post..  I'm down 2.4 from Friday (couldn't get in Monday) to make me 203.2.. I'll be in ONEderland soon.  YAY!

Congratulations to all the big losers!! Wish I was one!

I actually went up .2 lb. The nurse didn't seem overly concerned but I certainly was. I have lost 20.8 in 5 weeks but only 1.4 lb this last week. Yet I believe I'm not "on program". I've been having one wasa bread with some light philly but that seems to be allowed. I also do cardio every day for 30 min and some resistance training 3 x a week so I'm quite dissapointed. Hopefully it will be better on Friday. :(

I know this works from all of you who are doing so great so I just have to hang in there but it can get discouraging when you don't lose or only lose a very tiny amount.

OMG Choc_Lab_lover~I can't believe I glossed over your post.  BIG WAY TO GO!  You have really done well.

For those of you that have posted frustrations with slower weight loss, my two cents for what its worth, which according to my lunch meeting with evil accountant is not worth much these days, I focus during slow weight loss waves on all the positives:

For me,
1. I lost almost 28lbs in under two months (that's insane)
2. I am still focused on loosing weight ~normally I would have gained the 10 lbs I lost during the summer by now
3. After hearing about my financial losses (this market is nuts) I would have had the cheese cake for desert and probably camped out in front of the frig for the rest of the day
4. and there are many more positives for me, which help me ride out the slower waves

I am not sure if this helps, but it works for me!  Best of luck!

Congrats to Choc for being in onederland!!! And congrats to all for your great losses!

Donna, I agree with Michelle that as long as you are consistently losing, you shouldn't switch to maintenance while you still want to get lower. Now, again, if you really start to slow down dramatically over a few weeks, then switch over to maintenance and see if that helps any.

Thanks Shannon_grl. That does put it in perspective and perhaps I'll have a good loss in the next week. Sure hope so cause when I posted I meant to say I've been[U] "on progam" not off program. Certainly if I've gone off I haven't meant to and I have been burning throughout.
I also had my ticker off by a month. Corrected now :) .

Morning.  I was up 1.4 from last Tuesday (Oct. 14) because I spent a week in St. John's NFLD eating fish and chips and drinking booze!!!  I am glad to be back on plan, though, and was craving some healthy and low calorie foods!  Hope to lose that extra pound by the end of the week.

NFLD is great - I recommend everyone get there at some time in their lives.  I am even considering moving there!!!

Congrats to everyone! I'm down 1.4 to 187.8.

I haven't been under 192 in such a long time, and this past weekend seemed to unconsciously screw myself over so I don't get under that. I went up 0.2 on the weekend, but am back on track and ready to keep motoring on this diet. Does it make sense that I seem to sabotage myself from losing weight?

Hi Kate,

I think it does happen sometimes that we sabotage even our best efforts.  I know that I have struggled with that in the past.  I'll get down to the weight I want, I'll be ecstatic about it and then pig right out and so gain it all back -- that's why I've signed up for the maintenance plan because I knew that my problem was not following the diet but trying to be good in my choices when I was no longer on the diet.  I think the best course of action is to move past the incident, get back on diet, focus on your goals and don't beat yourself up.

Congrats to everyone this week!

Justing catching up.  Down 2.2 from Monday...a whoosh for me despite being away at a conference.  More importantly I made it back to distant patient status.  So am not back til next Wednesday!   Driving 3 hours, three times week is just too exhausting!  Keep up the great work and welcome to wonderland Choclab lover.  Was great to be at a big conference and manage to get around the tightly packed talbes and chairs with ease!
