I worked this up awhile back when petitioning to get hot peppers to be treated as an "approved" vegetable (8 oz. = 1 vegetable) and thought I'd repost it here to make it easy to find.

As an aside, even though the official food list doesn't yet reflect it (and I don't know if it ever will), Dr. Bernstein himself approved my request to have hot peppers be "8 oz. = 1 vegetable" (according to the nurse at my clinic).  So if you're a chilihead, have at it!

Note: Not all approved vegetables are represented -- only the ones that I could find in the FDA nutrition database are there.

Thanks Brian,
I also love hot spicy chili.
I just looked up the chili recipe in Dr. B's cookbook.
Are you going to use hot peppers in place of the sweet pepper allowed?

Yep, I frequently use jalapenos in place of green peppers, and add ground habanero powder to just about everything it seems.
